Perfection will simply not result if pitting resides prior to the dipping process. Yet, if the piece suffers from aging that has taken its toll farther than the sanding/polishing stage allows, these blemishes will be visible in the finished product. One needs to understand, that all precautions are taken during the repair, but often these micro-pits will be seen in the end. Know, too, that if breakthrough does occur, a weld is necessitated, resulting in a slight “rebirth-mark” where the new metal of a different alloy was applied.
