Aluminum Trim Restoration
Bright-Dipped: Each piece of anodized trim is first stripped of all factory finish (what is left of it),
along with all of the added debris and contaminants accumulated over time. As the pits and nodules of calcification
are removed, however, the underlying surface often reveals deeper instances of distress, and an array of undesirable
micro-pitting may result. Our artisans continue from this point to reduce these blemishes to the greatest degree as
is possible without breaking through the metal surface. The piece is then sanded, buffed, and polished prior to
the final stage of bright-dipping.
Polished: Often a customer would rather forego the risks of reanodization, and simply have the same aluminum
piece polished. The result is a brilliant, gorgeous shine, with any residual pitting left far less noticed when left in its
raw state. However, unprotected aluminum does oxidize over time when exposed to the elements, thus necessitating occasional
maintenance. Many individuals, however, love polishing their cars, so this refreshening with metal polish is not bothersome
at all. This polished piece is submitted to all of the restoration steps mentioned above in the Bright-Dipped section, only
the final reanodizing step is eliminated.
